World MSA Day

World MSA Day

Dear sis, Today is World MSA Day.  This is a day which is celebrated world wide to raise awareness to the rare neurological disease that you have, called Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).  We are all to walk a mile and/or light a candle. Well tonight sis,  I lit a candle and spent the evening thinking about you.   I wrote a post about you on the MSA Coalition page.  There are over 7,000 members.  It was so nice to connect…

More girl talk sent with love….

More girl talk sent with love….

Dear sis, I just returned from a 3 day conference in Whistler.    Pre me leaving on Sunday, I was fortunate to see Kerri on the Saturday night in North Vancouver.    We had beer and potato skins at a brew pub in the Village in West Van, shopped in some great stores, had an amazing dinner with such great atmosphere at the Earls along the seawall and we ended our evening, just the two of us, playing a very…

It doesn’t interest me….

It doesn’t interest me….

Dear sis, I want to share this beautiful prose- poem called,  “The Invitation”,  by Oriah House. It touched me for many reasons.   It is a reminder of what is truly important in life. Contrast is important to truly feel emotions. Love and hurt.   Light and darkness.   Joy and sorrow.  Beautiful and unpleasant.   Life’s meaning is captured in contrast. For me personally, this poem is a reminder of how I want to live and love. I love you sis, Kathy xo ps.  Karen, after…

Girl talk…and men :)

Girl talk…and men :)

Dear Sis, Tonight, I am having this wonderful feeling of simply just writing to you.  I thought to myself, “Oh, I am not sure if I have a story to tell you ?”  But then I thought, who cares.  Just write.   The stories will come. Last week,  Jenna started High School.   On her first day she came home and said, “Mama, I got to say something in front of the entire grade 8 students (over 200).  We were asked to say a…

My Wonderful Nightmare…

My Wonderful Nightmare…

Dear sis, I thought I would take this evening to remember my friend Erin.  You met her many years ago on several of your visits out West. Today is the eve of her 51st birthday.    Last weekend I came across the book, that has all of the journals she wrote, when she was dying. The title of the book is called, “My Wonderful Nightmare”.   There are daily entries relating to her journey with cancer from February 9th, 1998…

Thinking of you…

Thinking of you…

Dear sis, Over the last few weeks, I have started several blogs to you.   Or I go for my walk – runs and I think of a dozen things I want to share with you.  But as you know it is summer time, so I am finding myself outdoors every night. However the last couple of days has been cooler.  It rained.   So I found myself indoors most of the weekend, getting chores done. As you know, our…

Happy Birthday JP

Happy Birthday JP

Dear sis, I was all focused on cleaning my house, cutting the grass, as I have plans the next few evenings.  However,  I was just in the kitchen and I started thinking about JP and his birthday tomorrow. I had an overwhelming feeling to honour this man today.  So I am now out back, on my swing. JP, I just decided I am going to blog to you. Dear JP, If my sister could talk, she would say, “Kathy, do…

Just Be….

Just Be….

Dear Sis, I wrote a blog the other day, posted it and when I went back to read it, I found myself deleting it. I was just telling a friend the other day, that I never go back and read my blogs.   I may one day.  But for now, I simply write from my heart and post.  I don’t think too much about it. So why did I delete it ? Well, when I read it, I thought, ”…

Take me out to the ballgame…

Dear sis, Tonight, I interviewed a ten year old boy for Make A Wish.    His wish is to meet this very famous baseball player. He told me that he has played baseball for 7 years.  He also proudly mentioned that 4 of those 7 years,  included rep.    He is a second base player and pitcher. When I asked what his favourite movie was he said, “Sandlot.”  He tried to explain the premise of the movie.  However, it was…

Flying through the sky, feeling alive…

Flying through the sky, feeling alive…

Dear sis, As you know, I have always been pretty adventurous.   I recall in my early 20’s,  hitchhiking up the Gold Coast of Australia.   I would get rides in 18 wheeler trucks,  meeting dozens of local people and hearing their stories.  It was a time of freedom, growth, adventure and self empowerment.   All this was rolled into my very young heart and mind. At the age of 26, I had an opportunity to jump 3,000ft out of an…
